We held our annual New Years Day open house again this year. Nearly everyone to the north of us shied away because of the weather, while almost everyone to the south called in sick. From expecting 35 people, we ended up with ten in the house, counting us and the little one, and four of those were under the age of 2

Still, some of those guests were people we rarely see, and with three baby-owning families there were plenty oof anecdotes to share. It was a by far better day than '04, where we had been expecting 40, got 8 and then had the cat tree fall over and shatter my favorite table. THAT was a bad new years day. This one was pleasantly cozy.

The question is "when do we have another party to make up for the bad weather and illness?" Cambias suggested we throw off our Papist ways and have it on the Julian Calender New Years Day, while [livejournal.com profile] evynrude  brought up the old new years day of April 1. [livejournal.com profile] mapmakr  suggested I poll the crowds for other suggestions... well? Any other suggestions?

Midsummer Day?

Next year, weather permitting, we'll come with both kids.

Don't ask me. I give up.

If you want to see me you're going to have to figure out a way to get up here. Never visiting my parents' house again = my New Year's Resolution.

That goes for you too, Tom!
