Slept very poorly last night, but what sleep I had included thois doozy of a dream: my wife was doing the GM smirk as I was explaining to Bec that both Ladegard and I had as yet failed to identify the temporal divergance point of the alternate history conspiracy game she was running. Before I could think too much about that we found scores of three-quarter inch diameter ticks crawling around the room that needed to be killed. Said room was some alternate version of our dining room, but part of an apartment that was over an abandoned gym, which the super - who was the project lead on ym current nightmare project at work - suspected was the source of the arachnid infestation.

The big question is: what's the temporal divergance point that would make my wife someone who would run alternate history conspiracy games? I suspect it would have to be sometime during the reign of King Richard, but I can't  be sure.

The only remnant of last nights primary dream? The line "Not for all the mayonnaise in Christendom."

WTF?

Last night me and a group of other people (some I knew, some I didn't) were in ahouse I didn't recognize waiting for the recently deceased Forry Ackerman to show up. Forry was running a home brew D&D variant. It's rules were very strange, as at one point Forry told me I'd get a bonus equal to the cube rute of 7d9. After a few minutes of figuring out how to use a d12 as a d9 I started trying to work out the cube root of each d9 roll, only to begin to suspect that it wouild have been faster to rol the 7d9, sum them and then produce the cube root.

Then I woke up. Very strange....

I wonder why whenever my nightly hallucinations turn to some sort of action scene two times out of three the protagonists are Matthew McConaughey and Andie MacDowell? It's not like I even particularly like either actor, and I don't think they've ever been in a film together.

I'm also wondering who the friend of [livejournal.com profile] mylescorcoran  and [livejournal.com profile] sammywol  was when they were having a visit over at my grandmother's house in Manchester, CT. Not that I've ever met either in the flesh; nor is my grandmother's house where I live - it isn't even in the family any more. Any light you can shed on who you brought along would be appreciated. Plus, I'm sorry we didn't have enough d6s for that GURPS game you wanted to run....

"He looked about the camp, seeing the vines twisting and twining through the fenceline, and was acutely aware that if the guards simply left them they would all die here, that the jungle would devour them in a week, leaving no evidence. And that this was a deliberate perversion of the ivy covered walls of his home, a direct statement to the Brahmins that their vaunted intellectual magics faded as they moved east, and in these places held no sway, no sway at all."

I've had a few lately.

That the current economic crisis deepend and [livejournal.com profile] 40yearsagotoday  and his family had to move in with us, the whole thing feeling like a an Eight is Enough episode.

That I was in trouble at work for not properly translating Tintin comics for our national director of labor relations.

And just last night a lovely, heartwarming story about a minister taking his misfit co-ed minor league baseball team to Italy for some exhibition games and then staying there because they could totally dominate the Italian baseball market. Plus his marrying his catcher. The whole thing would have been very Disney except that half of the team really were obnoxious jerks who he cut loose back to the states rather than deal with - I guess I've worked in HR too long.

The first two are just anxiety dreams, but I'm not sure what to make of Co Ed Baseball's Italian Vacation.
