Headhunters!
Aug. 20th, 2006 07:05 amRunning the second session of the second Captain Fasaad story today. We'll see how far they get this time. This is also only the third session ever for one eof the players (and the second with me) and we have to include lots of things that will interest her so she sticks with the hobby for fun rather than out of a sense of obligation for dragging her husband across the country and away from his LA Game group. Shouldn't be too hard - Captain Fasaad is always fun.
The adventure is keyed for three blocks - getting to the Elephant's Graveyard, getting through the Elephant's Graveyard and getting through the complex at the far side of the Elephant's Graveyard. Oddly enough, the adventure is called. . . wait for it . . . the Elephant's Graveyard.
In the first session the players only made it halfway to the graveyard. If they run true to form they'll only make it as far as the entrance to the graveyard this session. My hopes of having this done in 2 sessions look about as dashed as the idea that the first Captain Fasaad story would take 2 sessions. It took 6. This is more difficult since 2 of the 6 original players won't be here for this session, but could well be here for others if it takes longer. So how to keep them out of the story this time while leaving the door open for later?
Still contemplating that. Maybe they'll move with great alacrity and finish the game today. Yah. Right. Especially as on thing we need to engage the new player is lots of talk, talk, talk.
But if it takes longer than this session, I'll be committed to more than 2 games a month until we can get this finished. Sigh. No one ever said being a Mad Gamer Dad was easy. Hopefully DD will acclimate as well to sitting in on this one as she did for
netcurmudgeon's Space Horror gam earlier this month. Still need to find a giant teething d20.
