netcurmudgeon is currently planning on playing a reformed Bridge Troll who moved south to get away from the bad influence of his family. Tag line "Awwwwww, com'on! I haven't eaten a kid in... [pauses to count in head] Years!" No stats as yet.
evynrudeis going a more suave and stylish route with the Frog Prince. Sent off out of the Frog Embassy by this father (the king of all frogs), the prince is performing Five Labors of Frogdom to prove himself a worthy heir. He is an Excellent Prince [+4] - noble, brave, schooled in self defense & diplomacy and blessed with an Excellent Charisma [+4] that lets him be charming, seductive or intimidating as needed, his best advantage is the gift of Excellent Shapeshifting [+4]. While he cannot yet match his father - who can change into anything from a fly to fire, from a mountain giant to a snatch of music - the frog prince can adopt the form of any living thing from the size of a tadpole to a horse with a few moments concentration. His problem is his Poor Pride [-2], which makes him disdain the human women who throw themselves at him, get angry when people ask him if he wants to be 'cured' of being a frog and going on tirades about how non-frogs just can't understand the joy and agony of frogness. (I see the hero as a combination of the classic frog prince and a blaxploitaton hero like Shaft, but I'm not sure Evynrude quite agrees.)
More characters as I see them...

Date: 2007-02-28 04:18 am (UTC)A first swing at my as-yet-unnamed reforemd Bridge Troll
Good Club (break bones!) [+2], Good Traps & Snares [+2] (I'm thinking that this will cover setting and disarming, traps from large dungeon type traps to mere rabbit snares), Good Appraise [+2] (a Troll has to be quick on his feet in assessing loot), Good Spider Climb [+2] (!), and Excellent Physicker (mend bones! -- part of his atonement is to heal at least as many people as he has killed) [+4]. His weakness is a Poor Subtlety (it's an inability to be gentle in his movements, as well as not having anything resembling a poker face) [-2].
Oh yes, he has a tri-corn hat, a white shirt, brown breeches, and a vast blue coat (the type with big round brass buttons) which is painfully out of style ... but he's trying. :-)

Date: 2007-02-28 12:14 pm (UTC)I'll recommend the following edits:
Excellent Bridge Troll [+4] Covers being big, strong and scary.
Good Club [+2] covers whacking things with his club.
Good Spider Climb (Magical Gift) He can climb anything and hang upside down.
Good Physicker [+2] I love the idea, but he probably hasn't had time to get that good at it. plus, his inability to be gentle would keep him from being too good at it too quickly.
Poor subtlety [-2]
Something I didn't mention on the phone is the character's Special Move, which gives them a +2 when doing something related to one of their qualities. In your case it could be Appraise off of Bridge Troll, which means that he's especially quick on his feet in assessing loot.
If you're wedded to being an Excellent Physicker then you can swap the scores for that and Bridge Troll, but I think you need some quality whose Penumbra will cover being big, strong and scary.
