43) Fiddler's Green, or a wedding, a ball and the singular adventures of Sundry Moss: (Reread) This is the last (so far) of Van Reid's charming books about the Moosepath League, a gentlemen's society in late 19th century Maine. All of the books in the series are pleasant, Pickwickian and entertaining, with just a hint of underlying melencholy as not everything ends well for everyone to keep things from every becoming saccherine. Reid produced 5 Moosepath books from 1998 to 2004, along with another book taking place in 18th centuiry Maine. And then he stopped. Not one word published since then. The books all had sufficient following to be released in hardcover, were well reviewed and as far as I know sold well. But ther ehave been no more in half a decade. Now, if Mr. Reid only had five good books in him then it is well that he stopped rather than tarnish what he had produced by eking out more, but oh, how I would love to learn more about what happens to these people.

Bug I am left with just re-reading the series. Which I am doing right now

Joy Chant does that too. She's written books, as far as I can tell, when she has something to say, and not until then. It's wonderful, if frustrating.
