Books 17-18

17) An Evil Guest: Gene Wolfe's latest, and quite good. I shall have to read it again once I'm no longer rushing through the plot to catch the nuances, but the SF pulp horror mystery plot was a lot of fun.

18) More Information Than You Require: John Hodgman's second book of complete world knowledge, replete with lies that are so compelling that they contain more information than the truth does. A fun read, not quite as sharp as the last one, but containing several bits of genius. The addition of a single factoid tied to a date on each page, allowing the book to double as a fact-a-day calender was a good one, as many of the factoids - especially the strange rain war between Milwaulkee and Richmond - were hysterical.

I've read the Wolfe, too. I do wish I understood all of what he was trying to do in it.
