I just downloaded the 3.5 update of this classic from the WotC website, and it holds up to memory on the reread - both tricky and silly by turns, with several clever ideas and nasty monsters. netcurmudgeon, ashacat, evynrude or kriz1818 have ever entered the volcano before.
The joy at finding this is tempered only by the module being an ad for the Weapons of Legacy book that came out last year. Based on what I read of that tome, it does in 150 pages what my two Pyramid Articles "A Treasure Worth Keeping" and "Temper of Names" managed to do in 10 - borrow the legendary weapon system from Earthdawn into D&D. Now since I acknowledge that I borrowed the idea from ED I lack room for real ire, but for the record: I had it published first.
