for a certain upcoming movie in a fashion that my mom might understand. Since she thinks the new actors look edgy rather than old, and therefore unconvincing, I shall be postulating the following later today:

Did you hear that they're making a Law & Order movie?

Yes, that 19 season long show that has spawned multiple successful reinventions and reinterpretations of the basic theme over the last two decades is coming to film. However, the director has stated that his target audience are not fans of the show, and the script focuses on the early lives of Lennie Brisco (played in the TV show by Jerry Orbach, now being embodied by Ashton Kutcher) and Jack McCoy (originally played by Sam Waterston, now lovingly played by Topher Grace). Brisco's childhood is revealed to be one of angry, petty theft before he is taken into the police academy, while McCoy's cold father forces him into law. Conveniently, the police academy and the law school are in the same building so the two of them can meet and bond over a fistfight. We watch the two graduate into their respective careers to be tamed with even younger partners - Ray Curtis (Zac Efron from High School Musical) and and Abbie Carmichael (Raven-Symone from That's so Raven). The part of police commanding officer Anita Van Buren will be given sizable gravitas by venerable screen star Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills 90210, and the trailers incluide a scene of Brisco and McCoy sneaking into her room to see her in her bra.

The film climaxes with McCoy's prosecuting a cabal of Islamist politician/sleeper agents while Brisco and Curtis hold off the terroist forces in a running gun battle that erupts into the courtroom. When the defendant somehow produces a machine gun Brisco is able to toss McCoy his gun, giving the hard bitten prosecutor a chance to make a .44 caliber closing argument into the terrorist leader. Thus the pair save the entire United States government.

Fan Fave and show-hopping character Sgt. John Munch makes a cameo, and in the tradition of comedians turned serious actors that had Richard Belzer in the original part, Munch will be played by Jack Black.
