Subplot Kudzu

Well, part of the reason they're kind of unfocused and half-forgotten is that they got assimilated by the Betazoids for the Next Generation. Unfortunately, part of that process involved the Betazoids exchanging the potentially interesting Deltan hyper-sensuality for a kind of generic civilization of New Age claptrap plus ad hoc plot-complicating customs. Meanwhile the hyper-sensuality kind of calved off and turned into the planet Raiza. Which leaves the Deltans as a sort of palimpsest culture.
