Of a quack who's gone to the dogs.

That's right, the baby has moved from Telletubbies to the Muppets. We put Tubs on the other day and she contemptuously said "Off". The next day she was walking around demanding "Mups! Mups!"

It's a welcome change, though the Tubs kind of grew on me over time. Other than the arguments about whether Tubs have free will or if Teletubbieland was actually the Village (Run, Dipsy! Run!), the strangest moment for me was when my brain suddenly parsed the twittery British matron accent and I realized to my shock that the flowers were talking! For months I had just heard it as the flowers making high pitched warbles, no more explicable than the tinkling noise the Tubbies make when they bump bellies.

I swear the moment of translation cost me 3 points of SAN.

In any event, now we're in Muppets Season 1, which is an absolute kick to the box of buried memories in my brain. Go, Fozzie!

I find the Teletubbies strangely soothing myself...

As for our little one's favourite shows, she's partial to watching *Scooby Doo*, in all his incarnations (except his team up with Scrappy), but she has recently shown a liking to vintage *Little Rascals* on YouTube.

Hmm...I should try her out on *The Muppet Show* some day.

Just wait 'til 'In the Night Garden' hits your screens. [livejournal.com profile] sammywol is convinced it represents the simulated space of an insane AI on some centuries-old world ship between the stars, entertaining itself with childish characters trapped in a virtual reality.

It's by the same company that made the Teletubbies, but it's weirder. Be warned.

Worse Than Teletubbies

Little Boy at his earliest was absolutely addicted to a show called The BooBahs, which looked for all the world like dancing Teletubby turds. Completely nonverbal with a syncopated techno soundtrack.

*shudder*
