Actually, I've run a World of Darkness campaign and played in another; both were very enjoyable. But I consider classic World of Darkness to be somewhere on some axis of "radicalism" as Brian defined it. The emphasis on character personality development is much greater, and the inherent "you're fucked" mechanic of World of Darkness games takes away player control of character motives and destiny in some degree.
And World of Darkness is still a numerical minority against the vast, vast hordes of D&Ders.
