DTVS 1:4 Lone Wolves part 8: Meanwhile
Jul. 11th, 2007 06:30 pmThe camera cuts from our friends to the house of one Jean Duhamel, where the man is rereading a contract, the ink of which seems to glisten in the electric light.
"The party of the first part will hire Captain Jean Reynard Duhamel for the location, acquisition and return of the arctic wolf strain known as the 'Waheela'. Said location is to take no more or less than 27 days; the party of the first part will not be held responsible for any damages or costs past that time. If the location is successful said acquisition will be preformed with specialized equipment provided by the party of the first part, who will not be held responsible for any injury sustained for using non-sanctioned equipment. If the acquisition is successful Captain Duhamel will deliver the 'Waheela' to the party of the first part on October 7th and there receive his payment as stated in this contract, the return of his wife to the land of the living, whole of heart, mind, soul and body, under no curses or obligations.
"As the party of the first part has legitimate concerns about security and competitors, Captain Duhamel is under one additional obligation under this contract: if the acquisition is success he must make good the delivery of the Waheela - preferably alive but dead if there is no other option - with no mention to those outside of his immediate crew about the existence of the beast or this contract. A failure in this final prohibition will result in the forfeiture of Captain Jean Reyanrd Duhamel's immortal soul."
He returns the contract to his desk - under a photo of his wife - dons a cross and heads into the night with a rifle, knife and muzzle on a length of chain to hunt the beast. Alone.
