subplotkudzuSo a trio of Damon Runyon style protection racketeers lay their hands on a time machine. Jumping forward in time they flip through some history books and then try to put the muscle on the locals for cash.
"Pretty nice future you got here. Shiny, clean, very, as we have heard youse folks say, high tech. It's be a shame if something happened to it."
"Are you threatening me?"
"No, no not at all, we was just sayin' that it'd be really bad if someone were to have, and this is just idle speculaton here, were to have pushed that FDR guy's wheelchair under a bus. That would be a a real shame, huh?"
"What?"
"What my confederate is saying is that you probably would be willing to part with a substantial pile of clams to make sure that old Frankie was well, as we say, protected from such accidents...."
