And the portions are so small

So we went away for the weekend, making another sojourn up to Camden Maine, Rachel's place of relaxation. She Really needed to get away from the house for a while, and this was a good time to test theories on how one vacates with an infant. That part wasn't hard - we had to add an extra hour or so to the normally 6 hour drive to account for some extra rest stops, but the baby handled it pretty well.

The problem was the B&B. The owners were really nice people with a daughter who was so pretty and silent our first day there that I swear they had carried a ghost child with them from Scotland (apparently no Americans were coming to visit Scotland, so they relocated to America to run their inn). Breakfasts were lovely, and I learned that poached pears in raspberry sauce are quite tasty. The room, on the other hand... well, other than there not actually being so much a separate room for the baby as a place with a lower ceiling in full view of the main room, and the bed being too hard, and the door repeatedly sticking and the thermostat being shut off for our first night, other than that the capper of the hot water cutting out in the middle of Rachel's shower would still be enough to sour us on the experience.

We raised the issue with our innkeepers that morning before we left and to make up for it they gave us... wait for it... a gift certificate to come back and stay there again!

It's a nice thought, and honestly more than I expected, but do we really want to go back? 

The big gaming question of the weekend - which culture in Emirikol would serve poached pears? I'm thinking it sounds Elvish. The Blueberry Sausage on the other hand, is what happens when Elves hire Halfling cooks: everything tasts better in sausage!
