Session one ended with our heroes experiencing the breeze, stars and the dawn for the first time. Session two included:

* Realing that they were in the territory of a dangerous mountain omnivore, and retreating rather than risking a confrontation.

* the party thief summitting the mountain they were on to confirm that their homeland is now an island. In so doing he drew down an attack from some griffins that live near the summit, leading to a battle in which every PC got to do something cool and, miracle of miracles, the predators fled when they were overmatched rather than fighting to the death. (what kind of fantasy setting is this).

* confirmed from the egg-filled nests in the area that this was springtime, giving them warning that the threes with low hanging fruit were not really low hanging fruit but instead poisonous pods; they are unsure whether said pods are a defense mechanism or the remnants of Horror taint on the landscape.

* found that the mountain is also home to a type of shovel-nosed viper when [livejournal.com profile] kriz1818  's wizard got her foot caught in their burrow.

* learned that the insects they saw on the poison-pod trees eat the tree's sap, and will swarm if the tree is broken. The insects are dangerous when swarming but only if disturbed. They theorized that if the trees are horror tainted these insects might be natures way of clearing that taint.

* learned that the birds and birds eggs taste good, that the grifffin meat is tough and that the shovel nosed viper's venom sacks run some way into their body, making them difficult to prepare as a meal. John's PC proved that the venom, if cooked, is not fatal, but merely nauseating. Very, very nauseating.

* discovered some noctournal animals on the mountain - the wide eyed screech parrot and a cat footed goat. They haven't named these yet, but it's clear that the griffins eat the goats, the screech-parrots eat the rodents and the vipers eat both the rodents and the yummi-bird eggs.

* Learned that the mountain has had much of its soil eroded away, leaving an unnatrually low tree line; as they get lower the soil improves, leading to more and more varied trees and blocking much of the constant North-Westerly breeze. The removal of the breeze makes them vulnerable to the irritating gnats and mosquitos.

* Discovered the remains of a broken obelisk near a part of the forest with many low overhanging, interconnected  trees. Exploring the area revealed the remnants of masonry and other evidence of a habitation. Exploring the obelisk revealed some hard to read writing and that this bore the enchantments of a weapon. Ashacat's warrior found that the overhanging trees were actually ivy and moss covered bones, and that the point of the obelisk was a a filigreed, enchanted crystal that had struck a fatal blow to the dragon whose skeleton they were now exploring.
That was where we ended the session.
