Escape from Capecodistan!

Obviously the return to sleep was not easy after the late night fire alarm - at least for the adults. Elizabeth proved remarkably adaptable and went right back to sleep for another 6 hours. The next morning was chilly, and we decided to just forgo the last beach morning and go home. We were out of the hotel by 8:00, having finished the last of the sourdough for breakfast. I cannot stress enough the joy of the sourdough.

You would think that having gotten there we would have had no problems getting home, but you'd be wrong. All we wanted to do was take route 6 to 6A west to the Bourne Bridge and onto route 28. Instead we took 6 to 6A east thinking it was west, backtraking into Sandwich, realized that was wrong, took 6A west back to the Sagamoure bridge, thought that it was the Bourne Bridge so we got back on 6, but on 6 east, not west, got off at the first exit, turned around, went back and decided to just take the Sagamore bridge and follow route 6 on the other side. That ate up an hour. During this time I mentioned the strong desire for a donught - using code language like DD and Dunkin to avoid demands from our back seat passenger. Alas, she has cracked our code! We did finally find a donught shop on the other side of the bridge so we stopped, took a break and decided to begin fresh now that we had officially gotten out of Capecodistan.

The rest of the ride home was without incident.

All told, the trip was nice - I relaxed, got away from the news, read a decent amount, played on the beach with my daughter and generally had fun. The hotel was functional and nicely right on the beach with a balcony where you could read and watch the waves in the evening. Were it not for the surly cleaning staff, it would have been perfect.

Glad that the balance was positive. :) As for the cleaning staff... I have no clue.
