Playing Catch-up

I haven't been posting a lot lately, in part because of work stresses and in part because I'm getting distracted by politics (which I generally try to avoid on my LJ, trying to keep it games related). I will be posting more in the next few days to catch up on a few things.

But I did want to share this: Ta-Nehisi Coates has just started blogging for the Atlantic (Taking the place of Matt Yglaseas, who I quite liked for his referencing X-Men when he learned that the DNC had a committee pushing the Phoenix Initiative: "do we really want to risk a war with the Sh'iar?"). Amongst the politics and sports he's also blogging about his decision to teach his 8 year old how to play D&D. There's also a musings on Black Nerd culture that I found interesting. But the shot of his son old at the gaming table with the old school AD&D module covers making an ad-hoc GM screen is just precious.

*Contemplates 2 more weeks of full-time 9-year-9-old-at-home.*

*Wonders whether she ever actually picked up a 2E DM's Guide.*

This is where modules actually come in handy, isn't it? I don't suppose you'd consider a loan or two? ;-)

I could surely loan you modules - I'll see what I can find that might work. And I'm pretty sure you have a 2E DMG somewhere, as you tried to run a 2E game back in college. The big question is why you'd choose 2E over 3E?

Why? Because I may actually own the 2E DMG, of course. Still have to trek up to the attic to look for it, though. ;-)
