So the baby has a head cold, which is never fun. She was so stuffed up a few nights back that my wife decreed that the nose suction bulb should be employed during my preparing the baby for bed, to improve her chances of, ya'know, falling asleep. For all the obvious reasons, the baby hates the nose suction bulb.

What I had not expected was the look of mortal terror in the baby's eyes as the nose suction bulb approached - huge, wide eyes, hands outstretched to ward off the implement of torture - and all that came to mind was "And now princess, we will discuss the location of the hidden rebel base!"

I need to get an anti-gravity unit for the nose suction bulb, so it can float in behind me with some blinking lights.

I never made that connection. But then, we only used the bulb about once. I didn't see much point to it. The sinuses just say "suck all you want. we'll make more."

You need a mad gamer dad tag for LJ.

And treatment.

(Could be worse. I remember certain childcare books recommending that this particular operation be carried out with a swift parental mouth to nose and SUCK. Ick!)

My favotire was the advice by the doctor of suctioning, then applying saline drops, then suctioning again a few moments later. Yeah, like that's happening without a TBM (Total Baby Meltdown).

I read that first as a advice from a 'doctor of suctioning', which is a pretty narrow specialisation, if you ask me.

"There's a villain in the HE-MAN universe called Suxxor, Master of Evil Power Suckage. I didn't even know there were careers in 'Power Suckage', and this guys a master of it. Just shows how far you can go if you find you niche."

Unfortunately, even Google cannot find me the name of the late 80's comic who uttered this line.

Must... not... laugh out loud at the office. Even if there are only five other people here so far. Those bulb things are laughably pointless (though the laughter is likely to have a somewhat hysterical tinge as dawn approaches). Sorry she's not feeling well....

Well, not totally pointless. My daughter uses one in the bath as a pretty good water pistol substitute.
