Truly I have no shame

Having set my 66 year old father to work today flooring our attic. If it weren't for the fact that he enjoys this sort of stuff I'd feel really guilty.

OK, maybe not.

In a nod to [livejournal.com profile] adoxograph I will share that Kai Ryssdal (And I keep wondering who this Ryssdal is that the Klingons are saluting...), host of NPRs Marketplace, was, like Adoxograph, shelving books at a Borders in 1997. I wonder if he has nightmares about book shelving as well. Still I think she should call him and volunteer to interviewed for a story on Borders employees making huge career leaps.

And to round out this pointless digression from Emirikol, we have adopted the tactic of using a blue cow puppet to get DD to open her mouth as we feed her. This has lead to renditions of
Blue Moo,
You saw me standing alone,
without a herd in my heart,
without a bull of my own...

OK, back to work.

Ah, the singing of silly songs. It is the shameful secret all parents share, unfortunately not always a well kept secret.

You're not supposed to admit to doing it!! Sheesh haven't you been listening to any of my 'how to stay cool' lectures?

[identity profile] brianrogers.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Bah, I say. Bah! I am cool in my own way. It involves sitting in the freezer for several hours a night, but doing so means I can embarass and humiliate myself in public with nary a care in the world for the opinion of others.

And what's more cool than that?

If there was a chance I had trained someone named Kai, I would be all over the six degrees thing, now wouldn't I? Suddenly, the degrees between me and Walter Cronkite would be a much smaller number.....

He was in Palo Alto, I don't know if you ever trained there.

But it would be cool to see you as the focus of a Marketplace segment.

Ouch. Just plain ouch.

With each passing year, you grow stranger my dear.

Loveably so, but stranger nonetheless.
