early morning irritants

Got up early to get everything printed out for todays Emirikol game. No problems with the game notes and character sheets, but when I went to update my GM screen I found I was out of color ink. No problemo - CVS down the street has ink cartridges!

Well, they do, but they don't carry the Lexmark 60 any more. 
Nor does the other CVS in town. 
Nor the grocery stores. 

They all have ink cartridges mind you, just not the one I need. And Staples won't open until after I'm on the road for Worcester. 

I have never been too happy with my printer, since it is one of the cheap loss leaders that makes Lexmark money on the extra-pricey ink. This sounds like a good reason to upgrade. My current printer's biggest advantage is its small footprint that lets it fit on top of my secretary - my office/game room has little by way of desk or shelf space. Can anyone recommend a good color printer with a small footprint? I don't mind paying more now for something that has longer lasting ink cartridges?
